Buddy Rowell is a partner at Buty & Curliano. Mr. Rowell began practicing law in 1995 at the law firm Gordon & Rees LLP, in San Francisco where he worked until 2001. At that time, Mr. Rowell and Tom Crosby left the firm to start their own practice in Oakland – Crosby & Rowell LLP, which remained in operation for over 15 years. In August 2016, Mr. Rowell joined the partnership of Buty & Curliano LLP. He has been recognized and profiled by the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journal as one of California’s “Promising Young Litigators.” His expertise is business and tort litigation, particularly public entity, toxic, product, construction defect, pharmacy, and premise liability. Mr. Rowell represents clients that have included The Regents of the University of California, Mt. Diablo Unified School District, Oakland Unified School District, East Bay MUD, CVS, Longs Drugs, PETCO, Lafayette Capital Group, and Signature Properties.
Mr. Rowell graduated from the University of California, Berkeley (B.A., 1991) and from the University of San Francisco, School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, McAuliffe Honor Society, 1995). Born and raised in Palo Alto, Mr. Rowell is the grandson of the late Frank Lee Crist Sr., an attorney and State Assemblyman. Mr. Rowell lives in Lafayette with his wife and three children.
